Mallorca Design District (MADD), the association bringing together the business community of the island’s leading living-design district – of which we are members – turned Mallorca into the epicentre of design with MADDTalks. Two titans, Marcel Wanders and Drew Aaron, gave talks at the Kimpton Aysla hotel in Santa Ponsa for a day in which design and art took centre stage. The event brought together renowned architects, designers, builders and members of the local community.
The Dutch designer, internationally acclaimed for his boundless creativity and innovative approach, shared his vision and experience through some of his most iconic projects and revealed the process behind his signature designs. In Wanders’ words: ‘My furniture is designed to be talked about, because if you want to surprise the world, you first have to surprise yourself.’
For his part, Drew Aaron, known for his entrepreneurial vision and passion for contemporary art, shared his multifaceted career and unique perspective on the art world – from his work as a property developer to his role in transforming Mallorca’s artistic landscape. For Drew Aaron: ‘Mallorca has all the qualities needed to become an artistic benchmark with a brand of its own.’
Throughout the event, speakers explored creative processes and different perspectives on the world of design, as well as the relationship between art and technology. Wanders is a pioneer in this field, bringing together traditional craftsmanship and technological materials. The event also highlighted an outstanding reflection on the importance of design in our lives, demonstrating the passion these two titans have for their trades.
